Repairing a plastic toy

Plastics are the hardest materials to bond and require special adhesives, but repairing your child’s favorite plastic toy can make you a hero. Use Loctite® super glues or epoxies to bring back the smiles.

Step-by-Step Directions

  1. For small repairs: use Loctite Plastics Bonding System. This 2-part system includes an activator and adhesive.

  2. Apply activator to both surfaces using the felt-tip applicator. Wait 1 minute for activator to evaporate.

  3. Apply a small amount of adhesive to one surface and immediately join the surfaces being repaired. Hold for 60 seconds and leave undisturbed for 2 hours. Full cure in 24 hours.

Tips

For large repairs: use Loctite® Epoxy Plastic Bonder. Cut tips off dispensing end and dispense equal amounts of resin-hardener by depressing the plunger. Dispense into a disposable paper cup.
