Creating a tile mosaic backsplash

Customize and personalize a backsplash or table by making a mosaic with broken tiles and Loctite® Power Grab®.

Step-by-Step Directions

Using cardboard, create a template of the bathroom sink backsplash area you wish to tile. Be sure to account for the cutouts required for electrical outlets and switches when designing for a backsplash.

Place template on a clean, flat surface.

Arrange the tile pieces on the template in a pattern that pleases you. Be sure to allow 1/8" – 1/4" in between each piece to account for the grout you’ll apply later. Use tile snips and a tile blade to cut pieces to the desired size and shape.

Clean and dry the backsplash area, ensuring all grease and grime has been removed.

Using Loctite® Power Grab® All Purpose, apply a small dot of adhesive to the back of each tile piece and position on the backsplash in the pattern you created earlier. Start from the center and work out to the ends. Follow this process until you’ve completed the pattern.

Use a damp cloth to wipe away excess adhesive.

Wait 24 hours for Loctite Power Grab adhesive to cure. Once dry, begin to grout following the instructions recommended by the grout manufacturer.

Once complete, wipe off grout residue from tile surface with damp sponge and allow grout to fully cure per manufacturer’s instructions.
