How to Use Spray Foam in Sliding Door Insulation

Doors and windows are notorious for letting cold air in and heat escape from even the coziest homes. Poor insulation means higher energy bills and cold winter nights for you and your family.

The best way to keep heat in is to ensure you have proper insulation installed up front. Enter Loctite’s® TITE FOAM Insulating Foam Sealant, made to fill, seal and insulate effectively for a wide variety of projects inside and out.

When our friends Lauren and Lincoln (@theaustinflipsters) installed a new sliding door at a friend’s house, they knew which spray foam to turn to! Take a look at their process and how they were able to use Loctite® TITE FOAM for a perfect DIY installation.

DIY Sliding Door Installation

One beautiful day in Austin, Texas, Lauren and Lincoln helped their friend, Joey, with a mini house-flip DIY project. Joey’s dining room area had just one small window that let in hardly any light. To fix the problem, the team decided to remove the window, cut out some siding and install a sliding door in its place.

The slider door fit in nicely, but it was a bit smaller than the cut out opening, meaning there were still cracks visible along the edge of the door. Using Loctite® TITE FOAM Insulating Spray Foam, Lauren and Lincoln were able to seal these cracks, protecting Joey’s home from weather, pests and other elements.

After the door was properly sealed with spray foam, Lauren and Lincoln put the finishing touches on the trim and voila! Joey had a brand new dining room filled with light and a great view into his almost-completed deck and backyard.
