DIY Customized Sliding Door for a Fraction of the Price
What do you do when you have the perfect idea to complete a remodel, but the cost of customization is beyond your price range? DIY it, of course!

When our friend Charlee (@buildandcreatehome) was finishing up her bathroom vanity renovation, she wanted a door style that matched her pantry door without the high cost of customization. To save on expenses, she decided to do it herself with the help of Loctite®.
What You’ll Need:
- Eucaboard (3/16”x48”x96”)
- Power saw (or another tool to cut Eucaboard)
- Measuring tape
- Spray paint
- Standard Hollow Core Door

1. Decide how you want to customize your door
There are many ways you can change up the design of your door with strips from the Eucaboard. Charlee decided to create a beautiful, stacked panel design to match her pantry door, but you can turn your door into any style that you want. Remember you will be able to customize colors with your choice of paint later on.
You can cover the bottom half of the door, add vertical or diagonal stripes or place rectangular panels to create an inversion of Charlee’s design. Let your creativity run wild and use your existing doors for inspiration!
2. Cut the Eucaboard into strips
Once you have a plan for how you want to customize your door, measure out all the pieces that you will need and mark them on the Eucaboard. After you have confirmed sizes (remember – measure twice, cut once), use a power saw or other tool to cut the board into the appropriate strips.
3. Adhere the panels to the door with Loctite®
With your strips cut out, arrange them on the door to make sure they look just right. If everything is to your liking, simply apply Loctite® to the back of the Eucaboard strips and press them firmly onto the door. Once dry, the pieces will be attached tightly without the need for nails or clamps.
4. Paint your new custom door
Now that your door has been completely transformed, cover the whole thing with a fresh coat of paint. With a blank canvas, the finished product’s color is entirely up to you!
To match her bathroom cabinets, Charlee went with a sophisticated grey that tied the whole project together. She spray painted the door and left it to dry completely.
5. Install and admire
If using a sliding door, like Charlee, pop the door onto its tracks and voila! You did it! Enjoy your customized, DIY sliding door.
