Construction Adhesives can be extremely useful in both the interior and exterior areas of the home. Give these three applications a try in your next renovation project.
Home renovation and restoration doesn’t have to be overly complicated. Sometimes it really is just as simple as gluing two pieces together. Construction adhesives are an excellent tool for achieving a long-lasting install without requiring the use of unsightly screws or hardware.
In the video below, Tyler Grace and his team at TRG Home Concepts (@trghomeconcepts) are working on a custom mudroom renovation project with built-in cabinets and crown molding. The clients have also asked for a series of planter boxes to enhance their exterior space.

Tyler and his team started their work inside the home with a mudroom renovation that required new, custom-built cabinets. The cabinets had a 6-foot by 18-inch end panel designed to neatly finish the side of the piece.
Being right next to a window, using fasteners or screws to secure the panel would have ruined the look of the cabinet. Tyler quickly realized the best way to install such a big piece without excess hardware was construction adhesive, which is durable and prevents warping and movement overtime.
Tyler applied Loctite® PL Premium Max to the panel and positioned it to the side of the cabinets. For extra hold, he went on to add a few back screws on the backside of the mudroom cabinet.
He also used Loctite® PL Premium Max to adhere a two-inch thick walnut top to a different area of the cabinet. He applied small beads of it along the edge of the cabinet and a few larger bits to serve as wet shims since the walnut top wasn’t perfectly flat. The adhesive left no air pockets or voids. It has a reposition time of 20 minutes and cure time of 24 hours.
Above the mudroom cabinet, Tyler’s clients asked for crown molding from the face frame of the cabinet to the ceiling. Crown molding doesn’t have a very steep spring angle, meaning it doesn’t have a lot of room for blocking.
To accommodate for this, Tyler used the same Loctite® PL Premium Max to bridge the gap between the crown molding and ceiling plaster. The adhesive has extra holding power and never cracks the ceiling, making it a great choice for long-lasting installation.
Now that everything inside was finished, Tyler moved outside to finish up a planter box build to refresh the home’s exterior. The planter boxes used pressure treated lumber that wasn’t necessarily flat, so he was able to use Loctite® PL Premium Max once again to create a strong series of joints between the cap and apron in each box. He added a few pocket screws to hold the boxes in place as the adhesive cured.
