Repairing a shoe

Making emergency fixes as well as long term repairs to a favorite pair of shoes is easy with the right Loctite® adhesive.

Step-by-Step Directions

  1. Apply Loctite adhesive uniformly to both surfaces and wait until adhesive is tacky to the touch (about 3-5 minutes).

  2. Join the surfaces and keep secured by weighing down for 24 hours with heavy objects such as books.

Tips

  • Repair of tight fitting surfaces: If the repair is between 2 surfaces that are well mating with no gaps, then Loctite® Ultra Gel™ Super Glue is the best solution. Ultra Gel provides great adhesion to leather, rubber and many man-made materials used in shoes, and it resists twists and torsion due to its unique rubber-infused formula.
  • Repairing surfaces with irregularities and gaps (shoe soles): Use a contact adhesive with more body such as Loctite® Stik 'n Seal® Outdoor Adhesive. This adhesive is clear, waterproof and has flexibility to bend with the shoe.
