Artificial Content Title -- to be hidden

Wondering how to use epoxy and get quick results around the home? These simple steps and tips will let you tackle your next project: from small repairs to gut jobs, these skills will prove useful.

How does epoxy work?

Epoxy is an adhesive substance that uses two parts: a resin reacts with a hardener which will then act as an adhesive and create a very strong bond. This process is called the epoxide reactive process. A curing agent is needed within the mixture for the epoxy to set and cure. Epoxy glue is used to bond a wide range of substances, like metal, glass, wood, ceramics, tile and concrete.

Even if you already have used epoxy a number of times inside and outside the home, it still doesn’t hurt to brush up on how to use epoxy glue properly.

Here are a few useful tips:

  • make sure the area is well ventilated and pick a low-odor product
  • make sure you start by reading the safety precautions in the manufacturer’s instructions

Choosing the right product when you use epoxy glue

Before you use epoxy glue, ask yourself a few questions. This means considering which materials you want to bond, whether the epoxy is intended for indoor or outdoor use, if it needs to be quick setting or water resistant, and so forth.

If you want to use an epoxy glue that boasts plenty of strength but is also waterproof, Loctite Repair Putty All-Purpose is your product. Because it creates a waterproof bond, it can be used on indoor and outdoor surfaces. Other benefits include the fact that it is paintable and boasts a quick drying time. Go ahead and use it on showers and tubs, brick, wood, aluminum, PVC, concrete, metal, and so much more!

If you want a permanent invisible repair, then Loctite Clear Epoxy is a great option. It takes just 5 minutes to set and fully cures in 24 hours. Other features include that it does not shrink and is resistant to humidity and water, most common solvents, and has high impact resistance and can be sanded, drilled, and painted. Additionally, it is a versatile epoxy that can be used as an adhesive for a wide range of materials like tile, wood, metal, ceramic, and glass or as a filler for gap filling, surface repairs and laminating. However, be aware that it is not suitable for repairs under the waterline or for pressurized pipes.
